Match the solution to the surface
Check what is allowed
Read your lease and ask the property manager when a mounting rule is unclear. A product described as removable is not a guarantee that it is suitable for every finish. Installation and removal requirements matter as much as the headline weight limit.
Try freestanding first
An existing shelf, narrow cart, or storage box may solve the problem without changing the wall. Keep walkways, vents, and doors clear. Follow anti-tip instructions for furniture; renting is not a reason to skip a required safety fixing.
Test over-door clearance
Check whether the door closes properly with the proposed hanger or rack. Consider the frame, hinges, finish, and what hangs on the other side. Avoid adding something that interferes with a door’s intended function or makes it difficult to use.
Treat adhesives carefully
Follow the manufacturer’s surface preparation, cure time, load, and removal directions. Do not place valuable, fragile, or hazardous items where a failed adhesive would create a problem. Where permitted, check compatibility in an inconspicuous location before committing to a visible surface.
