Keep the route clear

01

Start with the door swing

Open the door fully and notice the route people use while carrying bags. Keep that route and any exit clear. Measure the depth available with the door open, not just the width of an empty wall. Tall narrow furniture still needs secure installation where required.

02

Store the current rotation

Keep only regularly used shoes and bags at the entrance. Move occasional pairs elsewhere. A smaller active selection often works better than a larger rack that projects into the walkway. Give wet or muddy items a suitable place that is easy to clean.

03

Create one landing spot

Use a small dish or existing shelf for keys and other essentials. Assign paperwork a separate place rather than letting it build up at the door. A hook can help with a daily bag when its fixing and stated load limit are suitable.

04

Try it during a busy arrival

Test the layout while bringing in groceries or getting ready to leave. If two people cannot move comfortably, remove a piece or reduce its depth. Choose storage that improves the actual arrival routine rather than making the entrance look full.
