Store with access in mind
Check the whole route
Measure the lowest clearance under the bed, including side rails and support legs. Then check the space beside the bed where a container would slide out. A box that fits underneath but cannot be removed easily is not useful storage.
Choose the right contents
Reserve this area for occasional items such as spare bedding or seasonal accessories, depending on the room’s conditions. Keep items you need every morning somewhere easier to reach. Make sure stored goods will not interfere with a bed mechanism or required ventilation.
Protect without hiding
Use clean containers appropriate for the contents and available clearance. A lid can limit dust, but check that you can actually remove it. Label the outward-facing side. You do not need matching containers if your existing ones are clean, usable, and easy to identify.
Plan for cleaning
Keep the arrangement simple enough to pull out periodically. Inspect for dust or dampness and follow care instructions for textiles. If retrieving one container means moving several others, reduce the number or assign the back area to the least-used category.
